Four players from the class of 2019 have committed to play volleyball in college next season.
Katie Schloss (Left/Galena) played five seasons for SSVC and will travel across the country to play at Adelphi University in NY. Adelphi is one of the top programs in the East Region and Katie will be the second SSVC player to attend Adelphi University. Katie was part of the 2017 16’s team that qualified foe Junior Nationals.
Brianda Diaz (Libero/Dayton) will play at Highland Community College in Kansas. The Scotties finished 31-3 last season. Brianda has been with the program since 2012 and is the 9th member of the Diaper Dandy Club (players that started at age 12 and played through 18 with SSVC). Brianda was part of the 2017 16’s team that qualified for Junior Nationals.
Azzurae Moliga (Left / Reed HS) will play at College of San Mateo in California. Azzurae has played four seasons at Silver State at Libero, DS, and occasionlly an outside hitter. She is known for her love of the game and has worked extremely hard to be able to pursue her desire to play college volleyball.
Layne Hembree (Right/South Tahoe) will play at San Diego Mesa which is perennially one of the top programs in California Junior College Volleyball. Layne played two seasons at SSVC as both a middle and right side player. She worked extremely hard to translate her basketball skills to volleyball and that hard work paid was rewarded.
Chelsea Nevin (Outside/Virginia City) will play at Feather River In Susanville, California. Chelsea has been part of Silver State Volleyball since she was 12 and is the 10th member of the Diaper Dandy Club. Chelsea led her high school program to consecutive appearances in the Nevada State tournament including a runner up in 2018.
Marlies Wendler (Libero / Douglas HS) will play at DII Wheeler Jesuit University in West Virginia. Marlies has been part of SSVC since she was ten years old and becomes the twelfth member of the Diaper Dandy Club. Marlies has played Libero and Defensive Specialist throughout her career and participated in the 2017 Junior Nationals. Marlies played her High School volleyball at Douglas High School.
